Joseph Wong* practices in civil litigation. He has appeared in cases before the Provincial Court of British Columbia, the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the Court of Appeal. He practices primarily in the areas of motor vehicle insurance and personal injury claims.
He completed his undergraduate degree at Simon Fraser University and received his law degree from the University of British Columbia, where he was editor-in-chief of the UBC Law Review.
He joined AMJ LAW in 1995 and was called to the bar of British Columbia in 1996. He is a past volunteer contributor to the Law Society of B.C.’s Professional Legal Training Course materials for new lawyers. He lives in East Vancouver with his wife and two daughters.

Annabel Kim* obtained her law degree from the University of Victoria and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2005. She began working at AMJ LAW in 2004 as an articled student and has been with the firm ever since.
Annabel’s broad training in both solicitor and litigation practices at the firm’s full service office have provided her with excellent experience and skills. She now works primarily as a civil litigator with preferred practice areas of personal injury and estates litigation, particularly in the areas of committeeship applications and Wills Variation Act claims. She tries to bring a practical, efficient and personal approach to her clients.
Annabel is originally from Vancouver and both lives and works in the Hastings-Sunrise area. Outside of work, she enjoys playing soccer, cycling, reading, music and food.

Dustin Paul obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia in 2014. He joined AMJ LAW after completing articles with a large downtown firm where he acted on behalf of a wide range of clients, from individuals to health authorities, insurers, employers, unions, telecom service providers, municipalities and other governmental bodies.
In his time with AMJ LAW, Dustin has developed a unique and varied practice including the following:
– motor vehicle accident claims;
– slip and fall claims;
– wrongful dismissal claims;
– estate litigation;
– general civil litigation; and
– succession planning, wills and estate administration.
Dustin also assists a number of our corporate clients with their day-to-day legal needs.
Needless to say, Dustin’s breadth of both work and life experience serves his clients well. His advice comes from the perspective of the big picture, providing sound legal advice at a reasonable price. Dustin has appeared successfully on behalf of clients at both the Provincial and Supreme Courts of British Columbia and been recognized with the Judith A. Mauro Bowers, Q. C. Prize in Appellate Advocacy.
Outside of work Dustin is a dedicated member of his community and leading advocate for the improved quality of life for persons with spinal cord injuries. He presently sits on the board of the Rick Hansen Institute and is a past board member of the Neil Squire Society. After having sustained a spinal cord injury himself in 2004, in 2010 Dustin became an honoured recipient of the Terry Fox Gold Medal Award for displaying courage in the face of adversity.

Mark Trischuk obtained his law degree from the University of Ottawa and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2016. Mark joined AMJ Law as an associate in 2017 after articling at a litigation boutique in downtown Vancouver.
Mark advises individuals and organizations on privacy and data protection, insurance, and employment law issues. As an experienced litigator, he also advances and defends claims in these areas of law.
Mark is a Certified Information and Privacy Professional (CIPP/C). Mark assists businesses, organizations, and individuals navigate privacy laws in Canada, including:

As an insurance litigator, Mark has a keen interest in the role of insurance in data protection. Many new insurance policies have started to become available to those looking to protect themselves and their businesses from clandestine attacks on personal data. It is important to know that most general commercial liability insurance policies no longer cover your business against cyber attacks or the loss of data by an employee.
As information about employees is considered ‘personal information,’ Mark believes privacy and employment issues go hand-in-hand. Mark assists businesses, organizations, and individuals understand employment laws in British Columbia and with:

Mark volunteers at the Access Pro-Bono Wills Clinic and with the Multiple Sclerosis Society's Volunteer Legal Advocacy Program. While in law school, Mark was a member of his student society's executive board, and volunteered with the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers and a clinic assisting low-income tenants with residential tenancy issues.
Originally from Saskatoon, Mark is an avid all-year cyclist and enjoys reading about current events and municipal policy.

Kepler Rotheisler obtained his Juris Doctorate from UBC in 2017. In law school, he was a clinic head for the Law Students Legal Advice Program. He also spent a semester assisting low-income clients as a full-time clinician for the UBC Indigenous Community Legal Clinic, and co-founded the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers UBC chapter.
As a lawyer, Kepler works mostly with clients drafting their wills, helping them through the probate process, and litigating on their behalf when necessary. He also works in personal injury for both plaintiff and defence, giving him a unique perspective on how the litigation process can best be navigated in his clients’ interests. His diverse areas of experience include defamation, family law, and commercial litigation.
In his free time, Kepler enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter and reading. He speaks English, Korean, and French fluently, and taught for many years at Sangmyung University in South Korea. Kepler is originally from the Hastings-Sunrise area and is proud to be working at a firm that serves the community he grew up in.

IAN AIKENHEAD, K.C.
Ian Aikenhead, K.C.* was called to the Bar of BC in 1976 and has practiced with this firm since 1977. Mr. Aikenhead is the head of the litigation section of the law firm, and has practiced as a litigation and personal injury lawyer his entire career. Ian’s particular areas of interest and expertise are ICBC claims, personal injury claims, estate litigation and other litigated claims.
Mr. Aikenhead was designated Queen’s Counsel in 1997, a recognition provided by a joint committee of the Chief Justice of the Province, the Law Society, the Canadian Bar Association and others. Only 20 or fewer lawyers receive such a designation annually, and it is reserved for lawyers who have particular skills and have provided them to the benefit of the profession or community. In 2022, after the passing of Queen Elizabeth II and the ascension of King Charles III, this designation was updated to King's Counsel.
Ian has been an Executive Member of the Trial Lawyers’ Association of British Columbia, a member of the Law Society Committee to redraft the Legal Professions Act, the Law Society Communications Committee, a course coordinator for the Continuing Legal Education Society of BC on Mild Traumatic Brain Injury, and a member of many Canadian Bar Association subsections.
Ian has been a lecturer on many occasions to many community and legal organizations.
Mr. Aikenhead has been for many years the author of the Legislative Watch, a regular article on new legislation, for the Verdict magazine. He has also been the author of the chapter on Damages in the Motor Vehicle Claims Manual, a reference manual for all trial lawyers.
Ian was the president of the Lawyers Assistance Program, and an active volunteer with that organization. Ian was the president of the Pacific National Exhibition for over 8 years, was the president of the Britannia Community Services Society, was an Executive Member of the REACH Health Clinic, and was the President of the BC NDP from 1989-1992.
Ian is grateful to be a trial lawyer, living and working in the East End of Vancouver, and helping clients deal with their ICBC claims and other legal issues.
